So today we're doing a Purple Heart remodel. This is kind of a unique situation as far as the customer is concerned, her father was actually a veteran who died in the Navy. Her husband was a veteran who served in Vietnam, and she's actually a double amputee. So, it's kind of neat to see how you know, not only does everything affect the veteran, but it affects the families and everything that kind of comes along with it. The sacrifices that they made, not only the sacrifice that the veteran made themselves, but really what it does to the families in the wake that it kind of leaves behind.
We're going to come in today. We're getting rid of an old steel tub with fiberglass walls. We're coming in with a beautiful new Crystal Frost wall system and a 2-inch low threshold base for our customer for easy access, just to really help with that mobility. We're coming in with all the bells and whistles, a real pretty brush nickel finish. We're going to have you know accessories of different grab bars, grab shelves, corner grab bars, a seat, just really going the extra mile to make sure that everything works out perfect for the customer.
What we have here is just a fiberglass surround with a steel base. And we're going to be coming in here and going to be tearing everything out. Then, just examining any type of potential damage that may be here. We're going to fix everything. Just get down to the bones and the walls, the original subfloor, and build back to our standards.
What we're going to do is we're about to go get the customer, bring them in here. We're going to go over accessory placement so we can find what works best for them. And we like doing that for all of our customers, just bringing them in and really just inviting them to make it as at home as possible. Take some measurements, find out exactly where we want to go out and cut all of our bracing and get it in here and everything.
Now that we've got all of our bracing cut for all of our accessory placement, we're going to take them in there get situated, everything lined out. We're going to install the bracing before we do any shimming on our walls and get ready for all of our custom stuff. We're going to mount a brand new 3/4 layer subfloor just to strengthen everything in there. What we're going to do now is we're coming in with a poly blend mortar bed. We're going to spread it out just to adhere to our base properly and get it locked in the way we need to. From there, we're going to screw off our flange on our base to our stud bays here. Make sure everything's secured tightly. It'll lock in mold to that mortar bed. We came in with our lower 48 on our back 60 wall here. Got it secured nice and tight. Now we're going to be running with our top piece here. And then we're going to be coming in with our walls. We're level here. We're level here.
Okay, so now that all of our walls are installed, we have moved on to what we would call our accessories. We got all of our accessories and everything in now. We went the extra mile on this unit, given the circumstances with the double amputee. So we wanted to make sure that our customer was extremely safe getting in and out of the unit. We put three 24-in grab bars in here, two on the exterior just to get uh gain a good solid entry point. We have one at an angle just so it'll naturally contour to her hand and allow her to move forward and back in the unit. We have two corner grab bar shelves that allow for product as well as extra support for moving around. And in the center, we do have a shampoo shelf grab bar that is it's a beautiful look. All of them come together. We went uniform with it just to make everything match. Install our side channels first, and from there we are going to put in a threshold and a header. put in our nice uh rain effect glass panels and lock her all in on the threshold and uh clean her up in silicone. We're really excited about it and we're we're hoping the customer will be too.
[CUSTOMER]: Thank you. And I want to thank for brother too, and ZINTEX and the Purple Heart Foundation. Amen. Lovely husband. God bless you guys very much. It's beautiful.
It wasn't just another job for me, being a veteran. Seeing what ZINTEX did to make this happen for this customer. It absolutely just there's no words for it. I fell in love with the whole process, but seeing our customers' reaction was it was absolutely awesome. I can't put it into words to see the emotion on her face. What she went through in that moment, realizing how much life was going to change for her, the mobility access of being able to be able to just take a shower, the things that we take for granted. Seeing her so happy gives me such an appreciation for the work that I'm blessed to be able to do with ZINTEX. It's not only life-changing for our customer, but it has been for me as well.
